Senior Accountant

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated candidate looking to contribute more to their firm other than just tax preparation! Arcadia Tax is a rapidly growing tax practice that has just completed two acquisitions. The team needs a leader with an appropriate tax background to bring the organization to the next level.

The Senior Accountant (SA) will be responsible for growing and maintaining a growing tax practice as well as be responsible for the timely preparation and filing of both normal and complex tax returns. The SA will report directly to the CEO and follow established policies and procedures. The SA will follow processes to keep tax workflow organized, compliant, and timely. The SA will have professional and respectful communication with colleagues, clients, and other 3rd parties that will aid in the business capturing process. The SA will be energetic, organized, and a team player.

We have two office locations: Manchester, NH and Andover, MA.

JOB DUTIES:

DAILY

  • Assist in managing the workflow of the tax practice including supervising/improving workflow procedures and leading/assisting team members
  • Preparing complex US and multi-state income tax returns for individuals and businesses (S-corporations, C-corporations, and partnerships)
  • Prepare gift tax, fiduciary, and estate returns
  • Process payroll if applicable for clients
  • Interact and communicate with clients
  • Call taxing authorities as needed
  • Research federal, state, and local tax legislation and assist with drafting client responses and memos
  • Provide guidance and training to, as well as review and adjustments for, the work of junior staff
  • Provide accounting and financial support to management as needed
  • Assist in the logistical direction and decisions required of a new and growing tax business entity
  • Other ad hoc projects as assigned

 

WEEKLY

  • Attend weekly staff and tax planning meetings
  • Report weekly activities on outstanding tax business
  • Ensure pending tax business is efficiently being processed

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 5-10 years’ experience in tax accounting
  • Sophisticated knowledge of income tax planning, compliance, and consulting
  • Working knowledge for filing 1040, 1041, 1120, and 709 tax returns
  • Valid PTIN
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and solve problems
  • Exceptional computer skills

 

STRONGLY PREFERRED:

  • Valid licensure as either a Certified Public Accountant or Enrolled Agent
  • Proficiency with TaxAct Professional (or similar tax preparation software), Microsoft Office
  • Reliable transportation to and from our Manchester, NH and/or Andover, MA office locations (hybrid schedule of in-office/remote WFH days negotiable, but this position is not fully remote)

Job Type: Full-time, In-Person

Salary: $80,000.00 – $150,000.00 per year
